How To Use Text Links To Optimize Your Website

Search engine optimization (or SEO) is one of the most important factors of your website's success. How you rank at Google, Bing, Yahoo and other major search engines determines whether or not your website is seen at all. Making it to page one on Google or Yahoo is not always easy. There are millions of other websites competing for top position. So in order to make sure your page ranks at the top, there are many things to consider.

There is nothing that will replace quality page content. But having well built and informative pages is simply not enough to get your website the ranking it deserves. Well places keywords are essential. This can take some practice to perfect. A good ranking web page will have around five solid keywords. The most important of which should be dispersed throughout the content in a natural manner at a rate of one per every one hundred words.

One key to search engine optimization that many webmasters don't pay enough attention to is incoming, outgoing, and reciprocal text links. Text links are very important because they help the search engine's "spiders" find your website. There more a spider lands on your site, the higher your website's rank will be at the search engines.

Outgoing links are probably the easiest to create. Once you find a website that is compatible with your content but won't be too much competition, you can create your link. Another good way to do this is to add text link ads like Google AdSense to your page. Not only will you get several outbound links that are compatible with your content, but you will also get paid every time someone clicks on a link from one of your pages.

Incoming and reciprocal links and be more of an investment of both time and money. You can create good one way links by submitting your website to free or paid directories. Make sure that the directory you submit to has clear categories that you can submit you website under. Directories that don't have specific categories are called link farms and can actually hurt your ranking. Writing articles and blogs are another good way to get incoming links. But make sure that you follow the terms of service wherever you post. Participating in forums related to the topic of your website can also be a great way to get some good free backlinks. Many forums allow you to post your website URL in your signature. Again, make sure that you follow the rules of the forum.
