Generic Aerobid is a synthetic corticosteroid. This drug comes in an oral metered-dose inhaler to treat asthma or as a nasal spray to treat allergic rhinitis. The intranasal spray decreases watery nasal discharge (rhinorrhea), postnasal drip, nasal congestion, sneezing, and itching oat the back of the throat that are common allergic symptoms. AEROBID Inhaler is not used for the relief of acute bronchospasm.
Contraindications
Generic Aerobid is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to flunisolide or any element of the formulation; infections of the nasal mucosa (intranasal formulation) and acute status asthmaticus (oral formulation).
Dosage and administration
Aerobid intranasal spray is used for rhinitis. For children 6-14 years, the recommended dose of this nasal spray is 1 spray each nostril 3 times daily or 2 sprays in each nostril twice daily. The dose should not surpass 4 sprays/day in each nostril.
The suggested dose for children of 15 years and adults is 2 sprays each nostril twice daily (morning and evening). The dose may enhance to 2 sprays 3 times daily. The maximum dose should not be more than 8 sprays/day in each nostril.
Before initial use, prime by squeezing pump 5-6 times or until a fine spray comes out. You should repeat priming if there is at least 5 days space or interval between uses, or if dissembled for
